Lionsgate and Saber Interactive have announced a new AAA video game based on the John Wick franchise, with the project revealed during Sony’s State of Play showcase. The untitled title is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC, and is designed as a single-player third-person action experience aimed at mature audiences.
The game will place players in the role of John Wick, also known as the Baba Yaga, delivering a story-driven adventure that blends cinematic presentation with intense combat. Franchise director Chad Stahelski and actor Keanu Reeves are both involved in the project’s production, with Reeves set to reprise the character’s likeness and voice.
According to the announcement, the game’s narrative will take place within the established John Wick timeline, set years before the events known as the Impossible Task. The story will expand on the universe’s lore and feature a mix of familiar faces and new characters created specifically for the game.
Saber Interactive is leading development in collaboration with Lionsgate and Stahelski. The studio aims to translate the series’ signature gun fu combat style into interactive form, alongside dynamic camerawork, driving sequences, and detailed environments intended to reflect the atmosphere of the films. The focus is on recreating the franchise’s distinct blend of stylized action, choreography, and world-building in a format that allows players to directly step into Wick’s role.
The John Wick franchise has generated more than $1 billion worldwide across its four films and has expanded into television and spin-off projects. The universe includes the series The Continental and the upcoming film Ballerina, with additional projects currently in development.
Saber Interactive is known for its work on Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2, which sold over seven million units in its first year, as well as titles such as World War Z. The studio also has several other licensed projects in development.
The untitled John Wick game is now available to wishlist on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. Further details, including a release window, have not yet been announced.
