Two brothers drown in abandoned quarry in Kekirawa

Two brothers drowned this afternoon (17) while swimming in an abandoned quarry in Samagigama, Kekirawa, police said.
The victims, aged 39 and 41, were residents of Haputale.
According to police investigations, the two men were among a group of five individuals who had gone to the quarry for bathing.
Three members of the group had returned after swimming, while the two brothers had remained at the site and later drowned under tragic circumstances.
The group had reportedly arrived in Kekirawa for construction work at a school.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Kekirawa Police.
