Thundershowers and fairly rough seas expected

The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Central and Uva provinces and in the Hambantota district.
 
Showers or thunder showers will occur elsewhere particularly during the afternoon and night, it said, adding, that there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

Meanwhile showers or thundershowers are also expected to occur at several places in the deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Galle via Trincomalee and Pottuvil.

There will be Thundershowers in the other sea areas around the island during the afternoon and night, the forecast said.
 
Winds will be Northeasterly and the speed will be 20-40 kmph. The sea areas may be temporarily rough as there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
 
The sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Galle via Kankasanthurai, Mannar and Puttalam may be fairly rough at times as the winds can strengthen up to 50 kmph at times.
