UNP’s Chitra Manthilaka supports Rajapaksa

UNP Central Provincial Council member Chitra Manthilaka has decided to support President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the forthcoming Presidential Election.

She pledged support to Rajapaksa and the UPFA election campaign at the President’s House in Kandy this morning.

Chithra Srimathi Manthilaka (63) is one of only two women – the other being Renuka Hearth (UNP), Nuwara Eliya – to be elected to the CPC in the recent election. The contested the 2013 provincial polls under the UNP ticket and was elected from the Kandy District.  

A former parliamentarian (2001-2004), she has been in politics for over two decades. Prior to that she was a government official and served as the Assistant Commissioner of Cooperatives.
