The police fired tear gas to disperse a group of protesters near the Talawakelle railway station, a short while ago, Ada Derana reporter said.

Badulla -Colombo bound train also had been halted at the Talawakelle railway station, for few hours, as the protesters were blocking railroad tracks, this morning.

The protest was launched following the suspicious death of a man who died while in the custody of Talawakelle police, last afternoon.

However, the police issuing a statement denied that they used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
