Panadura cop killing: Wife hires hitman to kill husband?

The murder of Sub-Inspector Ruwan Wijeyapala whose body was found with his throat slit in Panadura-South earlier this month took a new turn with the lengthy police investigations found that victim’s wife was allegedly behind the crime, a police source said.

The investigators are on the view that the wife had allegedly hired a hitman to kill her husband by offering money for the contract killing bid.

The police on the lookout for another two individuals from Panadura and Dehiwala areas in connection with the cop killing incident, a police officer said.

Wijeyapala, 53, father of two children aged 10 and 13-year-old, was an officer of to the Bandaragama police. Prior he had also served at the Matara Police station, Panadura Walana Police Anti Vice Squad, and the Modera police post.
