Minister of Public Order & Christian Affairs, John Amaratunga, says that a decision has been taken to dissolve all local government institutions next Friday (May 15).

He stated that although the official term of the local government bodies was scheduled to end in March, it had been postponed due to the new political situation existing in the country.

Speaking at an event held in Wattala, he further stated that after dissolving the LG bodies a special committee will be appointed to look into the corruption and malpractice which had taken place within them.
