Dilith Jayaweera, the Joint Managing Director of TV Derana, says he will definitely proceed to file legal action against the Sirasa media organization and the Director of MBC Network (Pvt) Ltd, Rajendran Rajamahendran, over false and defamatory statements made against him.

Mr Jayaweera on Monday (18) sent a letter of demand to Mr Rajamahendran, through his attorney, seeking Rs 2 billion in damage over alleged defamatory statements made against him on Sirasa TV.

However, a short while ago, while highlighting the said letter of demand, Sirasa TV aired a news report claiming that if Mr Jayaweera files legal action against Mr Rajamahendran it would be an abuse of process.

It also stated that Dilith Jayaweera will be counter-sued if frivolous action is filed against the Chairman of the Maharaja Organisation.

When inquired by Ada Derana, Mr Jayaweera said that he has still not received a response in writing from Mr Rajamahendran or his attorneys and that regardless he will definitely proceed with legal action against the malicious, defamatory and false statements made so far.
