A request has been made to the Central Committee (CC) of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) to sack five party members who defected from the SLFP and scheduled to contest under the United National Front (UNF) at the forthcoming election, SLFP Media Coordinator Thilanga Sumathipala said.

Sumathipala told Ada Derana that this request was about to be considered at the CC meeting that was scheduled to be held today (15).

Names of Minister Rajitha Senaratne, Hirunika Premachandra, Arjuna Ranatunga, M.K.D.S.  Gunawardena and Wadiwel Suresh have been mentioned in the request, he added.

However, today’s CC meeting has been canceled after the Colombo District Court issued an enjoining order against convening of the CC, without a prior permission from the President.
