Strike at the Colombo National Hospital today

July 29, 2015   02:53 pm

The paramedic staff at the Colombo National Hospitals on Wednesday (29) resorted to a strike action in protest over several demands.

Joint Convener of the Joint Council of Nursing, Professions Supplementary to Medicine (PSM) and Paramedics, Saman Jayasekara, said that the strike was launched as the authorities failed to address their issues though they held several rounds of discussions.

He added that the union will commence an island wide strike if the Ministry does not interfere to sort out their issues. “We had a discussion with the Minister four months ago, in this regard. But the relevant officials had later ignored to implement what the Minister promised,” he said.
