Six arrested for abducting Sagala’s supporters

Police today arrested 6 suspects in connection with the abduction of two men, who were pasting posters of UNP Matara District candidate Sagala Ratanayake, and their three-wheeler in the Diyalape area in Akuressa. 

The Police Spokesman’s Office stated that the incident had taken place at around 3.00am this morning and that one of the victims had lodged a complaint with Akuressa Police after managing to flee from the captors. 

Police officers intercepted the vehicle used for the abduction and rescued the other abductee while 6 suspects were arrested in the process.

They are to be produced at the Matara Magistrate’s Court today (July 30).
