Lakshman Wasantha Perera arrested

Former UPFA MP Lakshman Wasantha Perera has been arrested after he surrendered to police over an alleged assault, the Police Spokesman told Ada Derana.


According to the police, a group accompanied by Perera had allegedly abducted and assaulted a person on July 26, over an election related incident.   


Four other suspects, who were wanted in connection with the incident, had earlier been remanded till August 12.


Update: Former MP Lakshman Wasantha Perera has been remanded till 6 August after he was produced before the Matale Magistrate, Ada Derana reporter said.
