August 6, 2015   04:46 pm

Former UPFA Parliamentarian Duminda Silva and 12 other accused on Thursday (06) pleaded not guilty in the murder of former President’s Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and three others in Mulleriyawa on October 08, 2011.

Ada Derana reporter said that the Attorney General’s Department has filed indictments against them at the Colombo High Court on 17 charges including unlawful assembly, murder, conspiring to murder and abetting murder.

The High Court has also decided to continue with the case in the absence of an accused whose wife claims that her husband was abducted by an unidentified group, who came in a white coloured van, in November, 2011.

The AG had earlier requested the Chief Justice to appoint a Trial-at-Bar for this case as well. The case was heard before the Trial-at-Bar today (06).

Premachandra and three others were gunned down in a shooting which took place in Mulleriyawa in October, 2011, during the local government election.
