Wildlife officer among 2 held for timber racket

Two persons including a wildlife officer have been arrested in connection with an illegal timber racket in the Keenagoda Reserve in Medagama. 

The suspects were arrested in a raid carried out by Medagama Police, acting on information received. 

Police also seized illegally felled timber in their possession and equipment used for cutting down trees.

The suspects are to be produced before the Bibila Magistrate’s Court today while Medagama Police is conducting further investigations.
