UPDATE: Four dead after multi-vehicle crash

At least four PSD personnel including a WPC were killed and several others injured due to a multi-vehicle traffic collision involving two buses and a Land Rover Defender in Yagodamulla, Minuwangoda.

The four victims have been identified as officers attached to the Presidential Security Division (PSD), who were on their way to a funeral. 

Meanwhile 5 persons have been admitted to the Gampaha Hospital following the crash which occurred on the Colombo-Minuwangoda main road, Ada Derana reporter said. 

It has also been reported that several of wounded persons are in critical condition.

One of the private buses involved in the accident was traveling from Colombo to Minuwangoda while the other was plying the opposite route. 

The incident had occurred when the Defender had attempted to overtake a bus in the Yagodamulla area and the arrival of another bus from the opposite direction had resulted in all three vehicles colliding.  

The two persons traveling in the Defender were killed on the spot while two others had succumbed to injurious at the hospital.  

UPDATE: The victims have been identified as Sub-Inspector Shelton Silva (50) of Galenbindunuwewa, Police Constable Premadasa (21) of Kandy, Woman Police Constable Isuru Indunil of Maaho and the driver Pushpakumara (31).

A total of 10 persons had been traveling in the Defender at the time of the accident while all remaining 6 of them are still receiving treatment.
