Trains on Northern line from Colombo Fort terminated at the Mahawa railway station due to a derailment between  Galgamuwa and Ambanpola railway stations, the Sri Lanka Railways (SLR) says.

Therefore, all four night mail trains from Colombo Fort to KKS and Talaimannar have been cancelled due to the derailment, however, ticket money will be refunded, the SLR added.

The SLR said that efforts are underway to resume normal services swiftly.
