UPFA Parliamentarian Sanath Nishantha Perera has been remanded till tomorrow (Oct. 16) after he surrendered to courts over a warrant issued for his arrest, police said.

A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear before the court for a case regarding an incident which had occurred at a polling station in Arachchikattuwa during the presidential election in 1999.

The case was filed against Perera, who was then a member of the  Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Sabha, and another individual for the possession of live ammunition.
