UPFA Parliamentarian Sanath Nishantha Perera has been remanded till tomorrow (Oct. 16) after he surrendered to courts over a warrant issued for his arrest, police said.
A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear before the court for a case regarding an incident which had occurred at a polling station in Arachchikattuwa during the presidential election in 1999.
The case was filed against Perera, who was then a member of the Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Sabha, and another individual for the possession of live ammunition.
The Puttalam District MP had failed to appear at court when the case was taken up on September 25 while he was ordered remanded after surrendering to the court today.
