Woman immolates self in Jaffna

A 48-year-old woman who had been suffering from a mental illness has committed self-immolation in Ariyalai, Jaffna.
Police said the incident has occurred at around 7.00pm last night and that the woman had died from severe burns.
Meanwhile a 35-year-old woman has died after being attacked with a garden hoe in the Dehiattakandiya area.
The victim’s 9-year-old daughter had also suffered injuries in the attack and was hospitalised.
Dehiattakandiya police is conducting an investigation to arrest the suspect.
