Ministry official carrying gold in anus arrested

A 42-year-old ministry official has been arrested by the Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while trying to smuggle in Rs.2 million worth gold concealed in rectal cavity.


“The Sri Lankan male, 42, from Borella, identified as a Co-ordinating Secretary to the Ministry of Muslim Affairs, has been arrested by the staff of customs officers at Arrival Lounge, Airport, with 04 gold slabs weighing 400g concealed in his rectal cavity,” Customs Spokesperson Leslie Gamini said.


He added investigations are being carried out by Deputy Director of Customs Harsha Jayathilake, Asst, Superintend of Customs R.A.K. Samansiri, K.P.B. Kaushalya, M.G.C. Dhammika, M.S. Kanakaratna and R.M.R. Ratnayake.
