Gazette notification on demarcation to be issued in April

Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils Faizer Mustapha says that the Gazette notification on the demarcation of electoral boundaries in local government wards will be issued in April.

He said that the Chairman of the Delimitation Commission, Asoka Peiris, has been informed to complete the demarcation of boundaries before April.

Addressing a press briefing in Colombo today, the Minister also said that the Local Government election is due to be held in June this year. 

He added that the government has no intention of holding the LG polls under the previous system.
