Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Tuesday (19) gave a hint that a new political party may be formed under his leadership.

The former President made the observation in response to a question made by a reporter after an event held in Panadura.

Rajapaksa pointed out that a new political party may be formed if that is the wish of the general public.

Rajapaksa is a senior member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) headed by President Maithripala Sirisena.
