Matthew wins 7th gold medal to break Julian’s record

Matthew Abeysinghe today won his 7th SAG gold medal and has broken the record held by Julian Bolling for the most number of Gold medals won by a Sri Lankan swimmer at the South Asian Games.

Abeysinghe has won gold in the men’s 100m butterfly event, 200m freestyle, individual medley 200m, individual medley 400m, free style 50m and 4x100m relays (free style). 

Bolling won six Gold medals at the 1991 South Asian Games held in Sri Lanka.
