The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) would convene its disciplinary committee to take action against the dissident party members, a source said.

SLFP General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake said that the members however will be given the opportunity to show cause for not taking disciplinary action against them.

The Central Committee of the SLFP has decided to suspend the party membership of seven Chairmen of Local Government bodies with effect from February 12 as well.

It was reported that only one out of ten local government members, who had earlier been ordered to explain cause, has handed over his response to the SLFP disciplinary committee.
