Retired SLAS (Special Grade) officer, H.W. Gunadasa, has been appointed as the new Secretary to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to investigate and inquire into serious acts of fraud, corruption and abuse of power, state resources and privileges (PRECIFAC).

He currently serves as the Secretary to the Presidential Commission to Investigate into Complaints Regarding Missing Persons.

Hewa Wasalage Gunadasa, who has served as District Secretary/Government Agent of Ratnapura District and Chief Secretary of Central Province, will take over from Lacille de Silva who was removed from the position today.

Sources within the Presidential Secretariat told Ada Derana that the usual term duration of officials serving in the commission is only one year and that therefore a new individual has been appointed to the position of secretary.

However, Lacille de Silva had said that he received a letter signed by the Secretary to the President informing of the decision and that it did not specify a reason.

Recently the term of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PRECIFAC) was extended by  one year until March 03, 2017.
