TNA, JVP bowling ‘full toss’ for Ranil to hit – Mahinda

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the “real” members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) who oppose the UNP government will take part in the ‘Joint Opposition’ rally to be held in Colombo tomorrow and that no one can stop them.

“Those who oppose this UNP government are real SLFP members, they will definitely attend (the public rally) nobody can stop that,” he told reporters in Colombo.

He said that the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) are not the real opposition in the country as they were established as the opposition by the government.

Rajapaksa said that the majority of the statements made by the aforementioned parties are allegations leveled against him and his government. “They don’t talk about this government,” he said.

He said that the two opposition parties as a whole completely support the government’s process and that they only ask question provided by the ruling party. “They put full toss for Ranil to hit.”

Responding to allegations of obtaining secret loans, he said it is a joke to deceive the masses.

“Is there any countries that gives loans secretly? These are funny stories. The country cannot be deceived through such jokes.”
