Former Ceylinco Chairman Lalith Kotelawala’s wife Cecille Kotelawala, who was arrested and remanded in connection with the Golden Key case, was granted bail by the Court of Appeal.

She was ordered released on a cash bail of Rs 100,000 and two personal bails of Rs 1 million each after a revision application filed by her attorneys were taken up for consideration today.

The court impounded her passport and informed her that permission should be obtained from the court before leaving the country.

Cecille Kotelawala, who was a Director of the Golden Key Credit Card Company, had been evading courts and was arrested by immigration officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake upon returning to Sri Lanka on February 05.

Her husband Deshmanya Deshabandu Jeewaka Lalith Bhupendra Kotelawala, who was the chairman of Ceylinco Consolidated, was charged for the misappropriation of 26 billion rupees of investments from the failed Golden Key Credit Company.

Cecille Kotelawala, who is the sixth accused of the case, had fled to the country and Interpol had issued warrants and red notices for her arrest.
