Experiencing a “politically motivated” hunt - Basil

Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa suggested that the close members of the previous regime are experiencing a “politically motivated” hunt these days.

The observation was made while responding to media personnel after attending the 8th commemoration ceremony of late Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle in Weliweriya this morning (06).

He pointed out the new trend as a reason why he had to appear before law enforcement agencies recently including commissions, courts and police investigation unites such as the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Basil Rajapaksa also vowed to organize a May Day rally this year. “The labour force of this country has been victimized owing to activities of the Government,” said the former Minister.

“It is the people who decide the progress of development progress, not us,” Rajapaksa added.
