A party leader’s meeting will be held at the Parliament this morning (05).


The meeting will be commenced with the participation of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya at 9.00 am.


A discussion would be held regarding the tense situation that erupted at the Parliament on Tuesday (03), it was reported.


Speaker Karu Jayasuriya had to adjourn the Parliament and called for a report from the Deputy Speaker and the Deputy Chairman of Committees in connection with the tense situation.


He also informed Parliament that suitable action would be instigated against the MPs involved in the incident. Parliament proceedings were initially suspended for five minutes due to the tense situation within the chambers which ended in fisticuffs between two groups of MPs.
