Court denies permission for Yoshitha to visit Uganda

May 6, 2016   07:17 pm

The Kaduwala Magistrate’s Court today rejected the application of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Yoshitha Rajapaksa seeking its permission to travel abroad.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa, who is out on bail and barred from overseas travel, had filed the application through his attorneys requesting permission from the court to accompany his father on a visit to Uganda, for the fifth term swearing- in of President Yoweri Museveni.

However, the application was rejected by the Kaduwala Magistrate’s Court and informed to direct it to the High Court.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa was arrested and remanded on money laundering charges before being granted bail by the Colombo High Court.
