The Army troops today called off the rescue and search operations at the Aranayaka landslide site, Army Spokesperson Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera says.

During search and recovery operations conducted for nearly two weeks, workers found total number of over 24 bodies.

The landslide had wiped out at least three villages in the central hills of Aranayaka on 17 May.

About 220 families were reported missing, the Sri Lankan Red Cross said in a statement earlier.
