Legal action against 263 places for breeding mosquitoes

The Ministry of Health says that 22,140 premises were inspected during the first day of the three-day national dengue mosquito eradication programme, which commenced yesterday. 

It said that 393 places containing mosquito breeding areas were identified and legal action will be taken against 263 of those property owners. 

The ministry said that instructions were issued to fix 2,890 locations and notice issued on 1,113.

The three-day national dengue eradication programme was launched yesterday on the instructions of Health Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne and will end tomorrow (31).
