Three students sitting for the ongoing G.C.E. Advanced Level examination were injured and hospitalized following a clash between two groups in the Akuressa town this afternoon.

A group of students and another group had met at the Akuressa town today in order to resolve a dispute which had occurred at a clothing store in the Akuressa area.

However, a fight had broken out when a woman among the group had started assaulting the students with a belt.

At that point, an individual who is said to be the brother of the woman had also attacked the student with a sharp object.

Three of the students were admitted to the Matara Hospital following the incident while one of them has been discharged.

Police said that two suspects have been arrested over the attack.
