Navy apprehends 7 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing

The Navy has apprehended 7 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using unauthorized explosives in the seas north of Pigeon Island.


Along with the suspects a dinghy, illegal fishing net and a pair of diving fins were also taken in to naval custody, the Navy said in a statement today.


The apprehended persons and items were handed over to the Kuchchaweli Police for onward investigations.
