Lt. Colonel charged with shooting wife remanded

Lieutenant Colonel Pradeep Kumara Nettasinghe, who was arrested on suspicion of shooting and injuring his wife in Athurugiriya, has been ordered remanded September 09.

The 49-year-old army officer was produced before Kaduwela Magistrate Dhammika Hemapala when the case was taken up today (31). 

The firearm allegedly used to carry out the shooting and a vehicle belonging to the suspect were also submitted to court as evidence. 

Following extensive interrogations, the Lieutenant Colonel was arrested yesterday over the shooting incident which took place on Saturday (27) night. 

The woman who sustained injuries to her abdomen and a hand is being treated at the Colombo National hospital.
