Debt burden to be reduced by 2020 - PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe predicts that the debt burden of the country will significantly be reduced by 2020.


The The observation was made while speaking at the 70th Convention of the United National Party held in Borella this afternoon (10).


Prime Minister Wickremesinghe also went on to say that this would be the ideal time to develop the country under the rule of the coalition Government of the UNP and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).


“As we mark the 70th anniversary, the UNP is not just a political party,” he added.


The Prime Minister also pointed out the significance of having unity amongst the people. “We would not be able to continue our journey as a divided nation,” he added. The PM said that the Government will too take steps to establish a new bank to meet the housing needs of the people.
