A process where the duty of the opposition is being carried out within the government itself is currently in operation in the country, according to Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Chandima Weerakkody.

The minister said he thinks that Sri Lanka’s opposition is feeling very relaxed due to this as they only have to keep making various statements.

Responding to a question from a journalist, he said that SLFP supporters who love the party do not like to see the party split as it feels like their own child is getting hurt.

But there are also “adopted children” in the SLFP and they make comments not knowing who the mother is, Weerakkody said.

He further said that similar to certain children taking fake parents to school when asked by teachers, there are those who find different parents during the election time.
