Man stabbed to death at community mediation board meeting in temple

A person has been stabbed to death during a community mediation board (CMB) meeting held at a Buddhist Temple in Athkanda, Kurunegala.

Police said that the stabbing took place following an argument over a land dispute.

A complaint lodged with the community mediation board regarding the land dispute was taken up for hearing at the Athkanda Temple today (Oct. 1) with the presence of both parties involved. 

During this meeting, the individual accused over the dispute had proceeded to stab the complainant with a sharp object and the latter had succumbed to injuries at the temple. 

Kurunegala Police is conducting an investigation into the incident.
