Minister’s decision will not be allowed - RCA

November 3, 2016   11:14 am

The decision of the transport minister to deploy Civil Security personnel at the unprotected railway crossings across the country will not be allowed, the Railway Crossings Association (RCA) asserts.

RCA Secretary Nimal Chandrasiri said that the authorities have failed to address the issues faced by them yet.

The gatekeepers of unprotected railway crossings have resorted to a strike over wage issues from 30 October.

RCA President J.A.C. Premalal said that more than 2000 employees are engaged in striking as the authorities have failed to grant a proposed Rs.5000 wage hike. The gatekeepers have also staged strikes on two previous occasions seeking solutions for their issue.
