I am of the view that it is unethical for the Parliamentarians to accept Rs.100,000 allowance, Deputy Minister of Social Empowering and Welfare Ranjan Ramanayake says.

Ramanayake said that he has also refused to accept the additional allowance granted to all Parliamentarians.

The proposal to increase allowance for Parliamentarians to Rs.100,000 was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on November 29. The proposal was submitted for a review by the Ministry of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilaka.
