If President Maithripala Sirisena is to leave the coalition government, that decision will put his life in danger, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader Udaya Gammanpila said.

He expressed this view while speaking to reporters at a press conference held in Colombo on Monday.

Gammanpila also alleged the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and India’s RAW were behind forming Ranil- Maithri coalition government in 2015. “They tossed them into a barrel and filled it up to the waist level with concrete. So they cannot leave each other, but still can fight,” Gammanpila said.

He also went on to say however the Joint Opposition is ready to back the President if he is willing to take the risk.

Gammanpila further underlined the government would have to face a severe defeat if the local government election is to be held amid the current economic situation. “As a result of this, they are eyeing to make amendments to the Provincial Councils Act to delay polls,” he said.
