A minor oil leak has been reported in a supply line at the Colombo Port premises carrying oil to Kolonnawa.

Petroleum Industries Minister Chandima Weerakkody said that repairs are currently underway by Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) employees.

He stated that the leak occurred on one of the four pipelines supplying oil within the harbour itself while measures have been taken to prevent the oil mixing with sea water.

However, the supplying of oil has been temporarily halted now and will resume once the repair are complete, Weerakkody said.
