Sri Lanka Police said that heavy traffic congestion is expected on Galle Road, Kandy Road, High Level Road and Negombo Road especially between 12 noon and 3.00pm today due to several motorcade protests planned by university students entering Colombo city limits.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during the aforementioned time period in order to avoid inconveniences.
Meanwhile the groups of protesters are expected to gather in front of the Colombo Fort Railway Station at around 3.00pm today (17) while this is expected to create severe traffic congestion in the Colombo Fort area, especially along Olcott Mawatha, Lotus Road, Maradana Road and Aluthkade areas.
Police requested public and motorists to avoid the above-mentioned roads as much as possible and assist in reducing traffic.
The motorcade protests, organised by university students against the SAITM issue, will reach Colombo along multiple routes.
