Prof. Vajira Thero among 5 injured in Kadugannawa accident

Five persons including Ven. Professor Kumburugamuwe Vajira Thero were injured and hospitalised following an accident involving the vehicle they were traveling in at Kadugannawa.

The incident occurred when a jeep stopped in the roadside near Ambalama in Pahala Kadugannawa had started to move backwards after the brakes failed and toppled down a precipice, Ada Derana reporter said.  

The injured passengers including the former Chancellor of the Sabaragamuwa University were rushed to the Mawanella Hospital while one of them in critical condition has been transferred to the Kegalle Hospital. 

Mawanella Police is conducting an investigation into the incident.
