Navy arrests 10 Indian fishermen off Delft

The Navy personnel onboard of a Fast Attack Craft of the Northern Naval Command, arrested 10 Indian fishermen along with their fishing trawler poaching in the Sri Lankan waters South of Delft Island. 

The arrested fishermen were brought to the Naval Base SLNS Elara yesterday (20). 

They were to be handed over to the Jaffna Assistant Director of Fisheries for onward legal action.

According to Indian media, the fishermen are belonging to Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu.

Consequent to the mutual agreement between India and Sri Lanka, 77 Indian fishermen were recently released with efforts of High Commission of India in Colombo.
