Two Indians arrested with Wallapatta at BIA

Two Indian nationals have been arrested with a stock of Wallapatta worth around Rs 2 million concealed in their luggage at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.

The suspects were arrested as they arrived to board a flight to Chennai while over 50 kilograms of the Wallapatta endemic plant were discovered in their luggage. 

The contraband has been confiscated while the two suspects have been fined, the customs spokesman said.
