Karunasena Hettiarachchi to be appointed Ambassador to Germany?

The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi is most likely to be appointed as the next Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Federal Republic Germany, government sources told Ada Derana.  

Sri Lanka’s current envoy to Germany Karunatilaka Amunugama is set to retire from the Foreign Service.

Sources within the government revealed that Hettiarachchi’s name has been sent to the German government via the Sri Lankan Embassy in Berlin for confirmation. 

Hettiarachchi assumed duties as the Defence Secretary on September 09, 2015.

In a public service career spanning for over 40 years, he has served in a number of renowned institutions and government organizations. He commenced his career as a Civil Engineer at the Ministry of Housing and Constructions.

Prior to his present appointment he was the Secretary to the Ministry of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage.
