Mysterious death of anaesthetist: body discovered at Nuwara Eliya doctors’ quarters

The body of the female anaesthetist attached to the Nuwara Eliya Base Hospital who died mysteriously earlier today, has been discovered at her official quarters.

Ada Derana reporters confirmed that the deceased’s body was found by the Police in the afternoon today (23).

According to the Police, the deceased had previously been married to a doctor attached to the same hospital. She reportedly lived a solitary life after her marriage ended in divorce.

Police also stated that they were currently conducting an investigation in order to determine if the cause of death was suicide by ingestion of poison.

Our reporters revealed that the deceased was a resident of Kelaniya who had returned to the doctors’ quarters at Nuwara Eliya following a holiday, in order to report for duty tomorrow as scheduled, where she died expectedly.

The magistrate inquest was conducted earlier this afternoon by the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate Indika Ruwan Silva, after which he transferred the body to the custody of the court-deputed doctor at the Kandy Teaching Hospital for post-mortem investigations, our reporters said.
