Over 100,000 people have been displaced and over 400,000 in total affected due to the floods and adverse weather conditions, DMC states.

Approximately 438,295 people of 112,565 families have been affected by the extreme weather, DMC says.

15 districts were affected in total.

151 have been reported dead and 111 more missing.

103,828 people of 25,810 families have reportedly been located at 342 safe locations.

Around 442,299 People belonging to 114,124 families were affected in 15 Districts due to the flood situation.146 Deaths and 112 missing reported as per the situation report issued by DMC on 28-05-2017 1200hrs. Further, 101,638 people belonging to 24,603 families were located at 319 safe locations.

Sri Lankan rescuers are taking advantage of improving weather and receding floodwaters to reach thousands of people in need to basic supplies after floods and mudslides left at least 126 dead.

Officials say hope is fading for finding survivors among 97 people missing in two days of torrential rains and landslides that swamped western and southern regions. More than 100,000 are displaced.

Around 423,068 People belonging to 109,773 families were affected in 15 Districts due to the flood situation, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.

126 Deaths and 97 missing reported as per the situation report issued by DMC at 1000hrs on Sunday (28). Further, 100,924 people belonging to 24,374 families were relocated to 304 safe locations, it said. 

The U.N says that it is assisting in relief efforts in response to a government appeal.

Although the weather has cleared, more rains are forecast for Sunday and Monday.
