The United Nations has pitched in to help with the flood relief effort, that’s currently ongoing within the country.

It has been reported that the World Health Organisation, the United Nations Human Rights Council, UNICEF, and the World Food Programme have organised special programmes to deal with the crisis situation at hand.

Upon a request made by the ministry of foreign affairs, the UN has made arrangements to receive the help of an international search and rescue team, to help with the flood relief efforts in the country.

The WHO has arranged for a special team of doctors  to be deployed to Sri Lanka, for help.

The Pakistan High commission states that aid in the form of goods will be provided, from Pakistan  to the affected areas, while the United States of America has stated that they too will help out with the relief effort by providing aid.

Many boats carrying aid from India have been docked at the Colombo port, both yesterday and today (28),(29) and will dock another boat carrying aid, tomorrow ( 30) as well, according to the SriLankan Navy.
