Riyal not being exchanged at BIA - Airport Duty Manager

June 6, 2017   07:40 am

The Airport Duty manager has confirmed that passengers at BIA have come forward with a complaint pertaining to the exchange of the Qatari Riyal.

It has been reported that many bank outlets at the BIA have been refusing to exchange the Qatari Riyal for the Sri Lankan rupee .

The reports have followed the decision that was made yesterday (05), where seven countries  around the world declared to cut bilateral ties with Qatar.

The countries include Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Libiya, Unite Arab Emirates, Baharain, Maldives and Egypt.

Meanwhile the Central Bank of Sri Lanka categorically denies reports by various media institutions stating that “the Central Bank has informed banks not to accept Qatari Riyals”.
